Reiki

All of life comes from one source
All of life shall return to one source
Walk lightly
Be filled with grace
Be at peace
The source of well-being is ALL-THAT-IS

~ Old Sage

Many people now know that the word "reiki" refers to a spiritual healing practice and hands-on healing modality that began its modern permutation in Japan in the early 20th century.

What many do not know is that the word "reiki" refers to a life-experience and mechanism that is natural, quite non-supernatural and experienced by all.

My non-physical teacher, "Michael," said this about the practice and modality known as "reiki":

"The fragment known as Mikao [Mikao Usui is the founder of the modern reiki system as we know it] appears to be a Warrior-cast Priest [soul essence] who recognized the validity of subtle energies and their capacity for being harnessed and directed. The energy that is harnessed and directed is not unique to the practice called "Reiki," but that system does help bring tangible tools to the process of using the energy. The same energy could be said to be shared from the exchange of laughter, awe, and happiness or pleasure.

The energy that is used is the basic "life force" of your universe. This life force could be understood through the analogy of a computer screen that allows for a cursor to move through the pixels and light, showing up as itself wherever it is, but literally connected entirely to everything on that screen. "Reiki" then could be said to be that affect that allows for the repair of a pixel, or pixels, bringing light back, so to speak, to areas of the screen that have dimmed or have gone out."

~ Michael Entity, as channeled through Troy Tolley of "TLE"

The above insights, as well as all of the rest of my experiences exploring, studying, asking questions about and practicing spiritual healing, have helped me to broaden my understanding of healing and spiritual/energy healing, specifically.

My training in the reiki system of natural healing helped to lay a solid foundation for the spiritual healing work I would do in the future.  "Reiki" opened many doors for me, and for that, I am grateful.  But I have learned that "reiki" is but one way of talking about and coming to understand spiritual or "energy" healing.  It is a good way but not the only way.  It is a good beginning foundation for anyone who would learn about subtle energies and energy healing, and this is why I continue to teach it and use the "reiki-model" and reiki-system terminologies.

In terms of the reiki tradition, there are 5 elements to the teachings that let you know you are learning within the reiki lineage that goes all the way back to the modern founder, Mikao Usui:

(core teachings at the heart of the reiki system)

2) Attunements (also called "initiations" or "empowerments")
(ritual that activates your energy system so that you can channel more life-force for yourself and others to support your own and others' healing and evolution)

3) Meditative Practices
(tools which focus awareness on the breath, the body and the energy itself)

4) Hands-on Healing
(tools for learning how to assist healing through "touch")

5) Mantras & Symbols
(tools used to focus learning and explore deeper teachings)

Because reiki itself is neutral, and can be explored from many different angles, many reiki masters (teachers) have created their own styles and paths that may bare little resemblance to the traditional reiki path.  I have come to the conclusions that on the one hand, this has tended to dilute much of the teaching, but on the other hand, all is well, as each person will CHOOSE the appropriate paths through which he or she will grow and evolve.

The Reiki System, whether it be taught more "traditionally" or more inventively, is simply a collection of tools.  Each tool is designed to help us explore and increase our intimacy with the life-force, which in turn, helps us become more intimate with our own soul essences.  Each person's resonance to the life-force will be unique.  There are many factors involved in how the perceptions will evolve when one begins to explore and accept spirit.  Soul Age plays a large role in this...the life-task, the life plan, karma and self-karma, life-agreements, environment and imprinting, and the pivotal, deciding factor of CHOICE.

I teach  levels 1, 2 and 3/Master of the reiki system one-to-one and/or in small groups.  If you are interested in exploring your inner reiki and developing a deeper intimacy with your own soul essence, please go to my "Services" page.  Get in touch with me, and we will talk about how best to meet your needs.  Whether you are new to reiki or an experienced practitioner who needs to "jump-start" his or her practice, I can be of service to you.

I have studied with three traditional Reiki Masters, and through two of these teachers, the lineage going all the way back to Mikao Usui can be traced.  You can see those lineages below.  After my informal, private study with my first teacher, Stacey Jenson, I went on to study with my second teacher, Margaret Ann Case (director of Reiki Arts Continuum who transitioned in February, 2010).  I completed her 450-hour Reiki Master/Spiritual Healing Pracitioner/Spiritual Counseling triple-certificaton program and her 120-hour Teacher Training program.  Part of my training and experience includes co-teaching reiki one and two classes (2007-2009) with Margaret Ann Case at the New York Open Center.  I also studied levels one and two of Reiki Jin Kei Do with Reiki Master Bill Stevens.  My most recent reiki training was in a less traditional reiki path.  I completed levels 1, 2 and 3A/Master within the Reiki TUMMO tradition at the Padmacahaya International Institute for Inner Studies.
